It's been about a month since Annabel's debut into the world and my life feels like a nonstop cycle of feeding, diapering, and sleeping (or rather, not sleeping). But each day does get a little better and I'm looking forward to that golden 2 month mark where I hear things turn a corner.
My labor started around 1:30am when I started feeling contractions. I began timing them but they were still erratic - somewhere between 5 to 8 minutes apart. I couldn't sleep and kept getting up to walk around. Danny woke up around 3am once he figured out what was going on.
Around 3:30am, my water broke. I heard it's not like the movies and comes out more like a trickle. Mine started off that way ...and then I gushed. Yeah, it's as gross as it sounds.
We got to the hospital around 4am (at this point around 2cm dilated). The nurse asked if I wanted the epidural, there would be a short window because the anesthesiologist had to fit me in between 2 c-sections. I asked for it at 7am and he didn't come til 8:30am. By that point I was 7cm (and barely able to breathe).
I must say, after the epidural, things were great. Danny says my contractions were off the charts, but I didn't feel a thing.
The doctor came in around 12:30pm, checked me and said I was ready to push. 4 contractions later Annabel came into the world at 12:58pm.
Since then life has been a whirlwind. The days are slow ... to the point I can't even keep track what day of the week it is. But at the same time, I can't believe she's already 1 month old.

After posting our pictures from Korea, we've gotten a few comments that we're starting to look alike.
When we landed in Jeju, our tour guide was waiting for us holding up a placard with our names. A little background, but Korean people don't change their names when they get married. I did.
Our tour guide assumed we were brother/sister because we have the same last name. And now I'm thinking possibly because we look alike?
It wasn't until he asked us for our passport information that he realized Danny was older than me. He thought Danny was my younger brother. Talk about adding insult to injury.
I picked up a good stash of face masks while I was out in Korea. You better believe that'll become a regular part of my skin care routine from now on.

quick thoughts on korea
What a tiring trip. I think I was more tired during "vacation" than I was while working.
We traveled by plane, train, automobile, and subway. We were gonna ride a boat, but weather got the best of us.
We went on a tour group to Jeju Island. The different tour spots tried to sell us things like cloned ginseng and horse bones. We did buy some chocolate.
Seriously, there are no napkins in Korea. How do people stand it?
People are so amazed that I can eat Korean food. Little do they realize that Koreatown in Los Angeles has pretty much everything they have to offer.
Even in Korea, I look Chinese.
